Born in El Paso, Texas, USA, Renato De Leon is a freelance professional ballet dancer. In 2014, after graduating from the Kirov Academy of Washington, D.C., he moved to Houston, Texas, to dance with Houston Ballet II. In Houston, he had the opportunity to dance with the main company and danced in ballets by Stanton Welch and Ben Stevenson.
He then moved to Europe to dance with the Polish National Ballet in Warsaw, Poland, and the Czech National Ballet in Prague, Czech Republic. In the latter companies, he performed prestigious pieces by world-renowned choreographers such as Jiri Kylian, Krzysztof Pastor, John Cranko, George Balanchine, and John Neumeier, to name a few. While in these companies, he attended tours around China, Russia, and Europe.
After almost a decade of working with professional ballet companies, he moved to Berlin, Germany, to pursue a freelance career. During his freelance career, he has participated as a guest artist and principal dancer for European tours, dancing roles such as the prince in Swan Lake, Nutcracker, and Firebird. In addition to his ballet career, he has participated in several music videos, T.V. series, films, and commercials as a dancer and actor. He also runs a Berlin-based ballet collective, Ballet Sur_real, combining his passion for electronic music and classical ballet.
